Arrest Announced in Louisiana Armed Robbery and Murder that Occurred in December 2022

Baton Rouge, Louisiana – The Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) has reported the arrest of a man suspected of the murder of Timothy Chapman during an armed robbery on December 19, 2022.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reported that Homicide Detectives have arrested Jeremiah Ezara Hayes, 23 for his suspected involvement in the shooting death of Timothy Chapman that occurred on December 19, 2022, at 10530 Florida Blvd.

Detectives indicated that they believe Hayes shot Chapman during an armed robbery.

Hayes was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for 1st Degree Murder.

On December 20, 2022, the Baton Rouge Police Department reported that Homicide Detectives were investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at 10550 Florida Blvd during the evening of December 19 at around 7:15 pm.

At that time, BRPD Detectives indicated that they believe Timothy Chapman, 21 was shot during an attempted robbery.

Chapman died at the scene.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
