Approximately 600 Customers in Sulphur Without Power Due to a Downed Power Line

At approximately 5:50 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2019, Sulphur Fire Department was dispatched to a possible structure fire caused by a power line falling on a shed near West Lee Street in the Maplewood area of Sulphur. According to outage maps and information from residents, the downed line caused power outages that extended North from Maplewood Drive up North Cities Service Highway as far as Highway 90, and west on Highway 90 to near Post Oak Road. At the time this was published, the outage was affecting approximately 600 customers. Estimated restoration times range from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. November 14. The estimated restoration time for some customers has been extended to 11:45 p.m. on November 14.
There have been additional reports that the structure on fire was a shed and has been extinguished. No injuries were reported.
