Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – Ward Six Firefighters Desiree Amrine, Michael Clifton, Reese Broussard, and Tad McDaniel have successfully completed the annual testing of fire hydrants located in the north end of the fire district. This essential task ensures that all hydrants are in proper working order, which is crucial for maintaining public safety and meeting regulatory requirements.
The testing, mandated by the Property Insurance Association of Louisiana (PIAL), is a preventative measure to ensure the hydrants are functional and can deliver adequate water flow in the event of a fire. It is important for residents to understand that these tests are not just routine but are vital for the effectiveness of firefighting efforts and the protection of property and lives.
The hydrants tested include:
- Ward Six Fire Station #1 at 1271 Hwy. 27 North
- Hargrove Loop at Hwy. 389
- Penton Road, east of the railroad tracks
- 1150 Hwy. 12 East

Residents might notice discolored water following these tests. This discoloration is caused by the disturbance of mineral deposits in the water lines during the testing process. If you experience this issue, simply run your faucet for a few minutes, and the water should clear up.
