Amazon Fulfillment Center to be Built in Carencro

There has been word that the online behemoth Amazon will be building a new 1.1 million-square-foot fulfillment center just outside of Lafayette in Carencro, LA. This comes after Scannell Properties, a property developer for Amazon, closed a deal with the Castille Family on a 120-acre property.
The new Amazon fulfillment facility in Carencro will be located in the 3600 block of Evangeline Throughway on the former Evangeline Downs property. This location was likely chosen due to the proximity to major highways and a FedEx facility, in addition to the workforce available in nearby Lafayette.
Amazon fulfillment centers typically directly create a thousand or more permanent jobs, plus hundreds of other local jobs to support the facility.
