Alabama Resident Succumbs to Injuries Sustained in Crash in Louisiana on March 16 on LA 182 

St. Landry Parish, Louisiana – An Alabama resident has succumbed to injuries sustained in a crash in Louisiana that occurred on March 16 on LA 182.

Louisiana State Police (LSP) stated on March 30, 2023, that at around 5:00 p.m. on March 16, 2023, Troopers from LSP Troop I were notified of a single-vehicle crash on LA 182 near Cotton Patch Road in St. Landry Parish. Freddie Thomas, 72, of Wilsonville, Alabama, died as a result of the crash.

The initial investigation by State Police found that the incident occurred as Thomas was traveling east on LA 182 in a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer. Thomas reportedly failed to navigate a curve for reasons that are still being investigated. The Trailblazer veered off the road, collided with an embankment, and overturned.

At the moment of the accident, Thomas was restrained. He was sent to a nearby hospital in critical condition. On March 29, 2023, Troop I received word that Thomas had died as a result of his injuries.

Officials stated that chemical results are awaited and that the crash is still being investigated.

Since the beginning of 2023, Troop I has investigated 16 deadly crashes that have resulted in 18 deaths.
