Additional Suspect Arrested in Connection with Multi-Victim October 21 Shooting in Louisiana

The Baton Rouge Police Department reported on October 23, 2022, that investigators apprehended Jaicedric Williams, 22, for his role in the shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of October 21, 2022, in the 600 Block of Harding Boulevard. Williams was captured by US Marshals at his residence without incident at about 1:00 p.m. on October 23.

Williams has been placed in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on 11 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder and Illegal Use of a Weapon.

This is a continuing investigation.

Original – October 21, 2022:

On October 21, 2022, the Baton Rouge Police Department initially reported that at about 1:50 AM, officers responded to an address in the 600 Block of Harding Boulevard to investigate a reported shooting.
Based on the facts available at the time, investigators concluded that this was an isolated incident. Investigators stated that they do not believe there is a continuing threat to the Southern University campus.

At the site this morning, BRPD officers were able to aid those who had been injured, and detectives were able to begin an initial investigation.
According to initial accounts, nine people suffered apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. However, with two more people coming forward, the total number of victims has risen to eleven.

Throughout the day, investigators continued their investigation by interviewing prospective witnesses, processing evidence, canvassing the area, and seeking to identify any individual(s) involved.
Beginning early this morning, two of the suspected culprits were discovered and apprehended by BRPD officers and the US Marshall Task Force. Each was apprehended without incident.

Suspects currently in BRPD custody include the following:

  • Daryl Stansberry, 28
  • Miles Moss, 24

Both have been charged with 11 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder with Accessory After the Fact and Illegal Use of a Weapon.

This is still under investigation. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
