Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana - Calcasieu Parish School Board officials announced that all Calcasieu Parish public schools and facilities are scheduled to open as normal on Monday, Jan. 27, with two exceptions: Western Heights Elementary and Vinton Elementary.
According to the district, those two campuses are still being evaluated for heating issues. School officials said assessments are ongoing and that additional information will be shared with families later in the evening.
No further details were released about the nature or extent of the heating problems at Western Heights Elementary and Vinton Elementary, and the school board did not provide a timeline for when those campuses might fully reopen. The district said that communication with affected families will continue as more is known.
The school board reported that the remaining buildings parishwide have been assessed and are cleared to operate on a normal schedule. Officials also noted that road closures are not an issue at this time, meaning buses and other school transportation are expected to run their regular routes on Jan. 27.
Families with students at Western Heights Elementary and Vinton Elementary are advised to monitor official Calcasieu Parish School Board communication channels for updates, including any changes to schedules, pickup times, or campus access.
