Lake Charles, Louisiana - The Lake Charles Police Department will temporarily suspend its in-person records service on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, as the agency prepares to move personnel and equipment into a newly reconstructed facility.

According to the department, the one-day pause in walk-in records assistance is necessary to relocate staff and records operations to the Investigations Bureau building at 1028 Enterprise Blvd. in Lake Charles. The move marks a consolidation of services at the updated site, designed to better support ongoing investigative and administrative work.

During the Dec. 12 suspension, members of the public will not be able to obtain records in person at the police department. However, certain records will still be available online through the Lake Charles Police Department’s webpage at www.cityoflakecharles.com/police. The online portal allows users to request selected documents without visiting the office, a tool that remains active while the physical move takes place.

In-person records service is scheduled to resume on Monday, Dec. 15, 2025, at the new location on Enterprise Boulevard. Once service restarts, normal business hours will be Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The police department encourages residents, attorneys, insurance representatives, and others who regularly request records—such as crash reports or incident summaries—to plan ahead around the Dec. 12 closure and to use the online request system when possible.
