Westlake, Louisiana – Drivers in Westlake will face daytime closures on a key roadway as Entergy conducts transmission line construction, according to information released about the project.
Trousdale Road, from U.S. 90 to just north of the railroad tracks, will be closed in two separate phases. The closures will take place during daytime hours only, with the road reopening each afternoon.
The first closure period runs from today through Friday, Dec. 5. During this phase, Trousdale Road will be closed daily from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the specified section.
The second closure will begin Sunday, Dec. 7, and continue through Thursday, Dec. 18. The location and hours will be the same: from U.S. 90 to just north of the railroad tracks, closed daily from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and reopening at 4:30 p.m. each day.
Traffic will be detoured to Prater Road so drivers can travel around the construction zone. Motorists who regularly use Trousdale Road in that area should plan for extra travel time, especially during the morning and late-afternoon periods when traffic is typically heavier.
The project involves work on Entergy transmission lines, which are high-voltage lines that move electricity over long distances to substations before it is distributed to homes and businesses. No additional technical details about the construction were provided.
Officials noted that the construction schedule could be affected by inclement weather. If storms or poor conditions occur, work timelines and closures may shift, and drivers could see adjustments to the expected end dates.
The road is expected to remain open outside the posted closure hours, with normal traffic allowed after 4:30 p.m. each day of the project.
