Lake Charles City Hall To Host LDI Insurance Pop-Up Office Dec. 2–3
Lake Charles, Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Insurance (LDI) will open a temporary Insurance Pop-Up Office in Lake Charles on Tuesday, Dec. 2, and Wednesday, Dec. 3, offering in-person help to residents who have questions about their insurance coverage.
The pop-up office will operate from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days on the first floor of Lake Charles City Hall, in Pioneer Hall (Bilbo Room), located at 326 Pujo St.
LDI staff members will be available to answer questions, explain policy details, and provide guidance on a range of insurance issues. According to the department, team members can help residents better understand their existing policies and offer direction on common consumer concerns, such as coverage limits, deductibles, and available discounts.
“Insurance is a vital for protecting your family and property,” Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple said in a statement. He encouraged residents of Lake Charles and southwest Louisiana to visit the pop-up office and speak directly with LDI insurance specialists.
Temple said residents are welcome to discuss topics including:
- Understanding auto insurance policies
- Identifying and using available insurance discounts
- Navigating the Fortify Homes Program
- Learning about the Wind Mitigation Survey
The Fortify Homes Program is a state initiative that helps homeowners strengthen their roofs to better withstand severe weather. A wind mitigation survey is a type of inspection that evaluates how well a home can resist wind damage. Both can play a role in protecting property and, in some cases, may influence insurance costs, depending on a policy and insurer.
LDI officials are urging residents to bring any insurance-related documents they may have, such as policy declarations pages, renewal notices, correspondence from insurance companies, or claim paperwork. Having documents in hand can help staff provide more specific and accurate guidance.
The temporary office is open to residents of Lake Charles and the surrounding area. The department notes that in-person conversations with insurance experts can help consumers clarify what is and is not covered under their policies before filing claims or making important financial decisions.
