Westlake, Louisiana - A 33-year-old Texas man died in a single-vehicle crash early on November 5 on Louisiana Highway 108 in Calcasieu Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.

John Acosta of Navasota, Texas, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash, which occurred shortly after 2:00 a.m. on November 5, 2025, near Ron Hall Drive. Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to the incident.

Preliminary investigation by state police revealed that Acosta was driving a 2025 GMC Denali pickup southbound on LA Highway 108 when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve. The pickup then traveled off the roadway and struck multiple objects.

Despite being properly restrained by a seatbelt, Acosta sustained fatal injuries in the crash.

As part of standard protocol in fatal crashes, Louisiana State Police submitted a routine toxicology sample for analysis. The results of this analysis could take several weeks to complete and will help investigators determine if impairment played any role in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by Louisiana State Police Troop D. Investigators continue to examine all factors that may have contributed to the incident, including road conditions, vehicle performance, and driver behavior.
