Port Allen, Louisiana – A 34-year-old Rayne woman died early Saturday morning after being struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle on US Highway 190 in West Baton Rouge Parish.
Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to the fatal crash shortly before 2:00 a.m. on October 25, 2025, at the intersection of US 190 and Grand Bayou Road. The incident claimed the life of Erin Constantin, 34, of Rayne, Louisiana.
According to the preliminary investigation, Constantin was traveling west on US 190 in the left travel lane while wearing dark clothing. The bicycle she was riding had no front or rear lights, which are typically used to increase visibility during nighttime hours.
A 2024 Hyundai Elantra, also traveling west on US 190, struck the rear of Constantin's bicycle. Investigators are still working to determine the exact circumstances that led to the collision.
Constantin sustained serious injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Hyundai was wearing a seatbelt and did not suffer any injuries.
Louisiana State Police have not yet determined whether impairment played a role in the crash. However, routine toxicology samples have been collected and will be submitted for laboratory analysis, which is standard procedure in fatal crashes.
The investigation remains active as state troopers work to reconstruct the events leading up to the collision. No charges have been announced at this time.
