Sulphur, Louisiana - The National Weather Service confirmed an EF0 tornado touched down in Sulphur on October 26, 2025, causing minor damage to homes in the McMurray Park area.

The tornado originated just west of McMurray Park near Interstate 10 and traveled eastward for approximately two miles before dissipating near the Lotte Plant located on Bayou D'Inde Pass near the interchange of I-10 and I-210 in Westlake, according to National Weather Service reports.

Weather officials determined the tornado produced maximum winds of 80 mph with a maximum width of 50 yards along its path. An EF0 tornado represents the lowest category on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, which measures tornado intensity based on wind speed and resulting damage.

The tornado's trajectory took it through a populated area, though damage remained limited to minor impacts on residential structures in the McMurray Park neighborhood. No reports of injuries have been documented in connection with the tornado.

The Enhanced Fujita Scale, which meteorologists use to classify tornadoes, ranges from EF0 to EF5. An EF0 tornado features wind speeds between 65 and 85 mph and typically causes light damage such as broken branches, damaged signs, and minor roof damage to structures.

The National Weather Service conducts damage surveys following reported tornado touchdowns to determine the tornado's rating, path length, width, and wind speed. These assessments help meteorologists maintain accurate records of severe weather events and improve forecasting capabilities.
