Impairment Suspected in Fatal Louisiana Crash that Claimed the Life of Unrestrained Woman on Hwy 561

Alto, Louisiana - A 35-year-old Columbia, Louisiana woman died Wednesday evening in a head-on collision on Louisiana Highway 561, according to Louisiana State Police Troop F investigators.

Jana Holman was killed when her 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer crossed the centerline and struck a southbound 2015 Kenworth commercial motor vehicle near Duchesne Road. The crash occurred shortly before 6:00 p.m. on September 17, 2025.

State police investigators determined that Holman was traveling north on Louisiana Highway 561 when her vehicle entered the southbound travel lane for reasons still under investigation. The Chevrolet collided head-on with the Kenworth commercial vehicle.

Holman, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the commercial vehicle was properly restrained and sustained no injuries in the crash.

Investigators suspect impairment on the part of Holman may have been a factor in the incident. Routine toxicology samples were collected from Holman and will be submitted for laboratory analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.

Louisiana State Police Troop F continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash. The investigation remains active as authorities work to determine the exact cause of the collision.
