Lake Charles, Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced a right lane closure on Interstate 10’s Calcasieu River Bridge westbound, between mileposts 27.5 and 29.5 in Lake Charles. The closure will take place from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, as crews perform routine bridge maintenance.

This maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and reliability of the Calcasieu River Bridge, a critical route for commuters and freight traffic heading through Lake Charles and the broader Calcasieu Parish region. DOTD has a history of scheduling such work during daytime off-peak hours to minimize disruptions to the daily flow of vehicles.

Drivers traveling westbound on I-10 should be prepared for possible delays and are urged to use caution, especially near construction crews and equipment. Drivers should consider alternate routes, such as the I-210 loop or US 171 to LA 378 to avoid congestion in the work zone. Also, keep in mind that there may be congestion on the I-210 loop due to construction happening there as well. Motorists are also reminded that, while the bridge remains open with at least one lane operational, reduced capacity can create slower travel times.
