Lake Charles, Louisiana - The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested two Lake Charles men on Sunday, August 10, following an investigation into a report of inappropriate contact involving a juvenile. Deputies were dispatched after the initial report and, during the on-scene inquiry, were advised that 23-year-old Jacobe S. Young of Lake Charles had inappropriate sexual contact with a child under the age of 13.

Special Victims Unit detectives with the Sheriff’s Office responded to assist. Detectives later identified a second suspect, 20-year-old Kayden I. Bruner of Lake Charles, who they say also had inappropriate sexual contact with the same child. During the investigation, authorities also discovered bruises on the child’s body that are believed to have been caused by Bruner.

Young and Bruner were arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Both face charges of first-degree rape, a felony defined under Louisiana law as nonconsensual sexual activity involving certain aggravating factors, including the age of the victim. Bruner faces an additional charge of cruelty to a juvenile, which refers to causing or permitting harm to a child.

Judge Tony Fazzio set Young’s bond at $2 million and Bruner’s bond at $2.15 million.

The case is being led by CPSO Special Victims Unit Detective Mika Liptak.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
