Louisiana DOTD Awards $65.4 Million in Bids for Statewide Highway Projects

Louisiana - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that 17 key infrastructure projects statewide received bids in July, with 13 contractors submitting apparent low bids that totaled $65.4 million. These projects aim to improve transportation networks, enhance public safety, and stimulate local economies throughout Louisiana.

DOTD officials have emphasized the importance of these investments, which include roadway resurfacing, bridge repairs, and drainage improvements. These upgrades are designed not only to address current transportation needs but also to support long-term growth and access in both rural and urban communities.

The bidding process is a critical stage in public works, ensuring that construction contracts are awarded competitively and taxpayer funds are used efficiently. By soliciting bids from multiple contractors, DOTD fosters transparency and achieves cost-effective solutions for the state.

DOTD’s July bidding round stands out for both its scope and significance:

  • Seventeen projects across various parishes highlight Louisiana’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving infrastructure.
  • $65.4 million in low bids reflects the scale of work and the investment being made in public safety and economic development.

Congestion Mitigation and Safety:

  • Striping, signage, and barriers in preparation for closure of I-10 eastbound off-ramp at Washington St. in East Baton Rouge Parish: $311,025.15
  • Pedestrian safety improvements on U.S. 61 at I-10 eastbound off-ramp in Orleans Parish: $647,836.52
  • Pavement markers and striping on I-10 between I-210 and U.S. 165 in Calcasieu Parish: $273,245.00
  • Pavement markers and striping on I-10, I-110, I-12, and U.S. 90 in Assumption and East Baton Rouge parishes: $1,140,903.90

Bridge Replacement and Repair:

  • Replacement of LA 544 overpass over I-20 in Lincoln Parish: $39,212,800.95
  • Repair of Trinity Drainage Canal Bridge along I-10 in Iberville Parish: $290,681.05

Pavement/Overlay:

  • Milling, patching, and overlay on U.S. 165 between LA 4 and Union Pacific overpass in Caldwell Parish: $8,365,554.00
  • Grading, milling, patching, and overlay on LA 3161 between LA 3235 and W. Main St. in Lafourche Parish: $936,651.95
  • Micro-surfacing aggregate and asphalt on LA 27 between LA 397 and LA 14 in Calcasieu Parish: $590,806.00
  • Micro-surfacing on LA 27 between White Acres Rd. and LA 110 in Beauregard Parish: $691,877.85
  • Milling, patching, overlay, and drainage on LA 821 between LA 820 and LA 145 in Lincoln Parish: $3,366,081.92
  • Milling, patching, and overlay on LA 14 and LA 380 between LA 14 and LA 26 in Jefferson Davis Parish: $1,016,564.87
  • Overlay of portions of LA 511, LA 614, LA 789, and U.S. 80 in Bossier and Caddo parishes: $2,297,165.18
  • Overlay of portions of LA 177, LA 4, and U.S. 371 in Bienville, DeSoto, and Red River parishes: $2,649,966.91
  • Paving, patching, overlay, and drainage on LA 349 between LA 347 and LA 352 in St. Martin Parish: $2,020,493.80

Other:

  • Ferry pontoon barge drydock for inspection, repairs, and painting: $576,850.00
  • Roof replacement at DOTD headquarters building in East Baton Rouge Parish: $984,000.00
