New Iberia, Louisiana - On July 21, 2025, shortly after 1 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash on U.S. Highway 90 Frontage Road near Captain Cade Road in Iberia Parish. The incident resulted in the death of 44-year-old Renota Lowther of New Iberia.

According to the preliminary investigation, Lowther was driving a 2012 Infiniti M37 westbound on the frontage road when, for reasons still unknown, the vehicle veered off the right side of the road. Lowther reportedly overcorrected the steering, causing the vehicle to cross back over the roadway before leaving the roadway to the left. The Infiniti then struck an embankment and overturned.
