Westlake, Louisiana – Authorities in Westlake have arrested a local man in connection with a burglary at the soon-to-open Lazy Gators Water Park, a $25 million recreation project located at 2901 Westwood Road. According to Westlake Police, officers were called to the site on June 18, 2025, after a report of a burglary and theft that took place on May 23.
Following an investigation led by Detective Sergeant Wright, with assistance from Officers Chris Piper, Matt Montgomery, and Corey Henry, it was determined that Brandon M. Foote, 24, of Westlake, Louisiana was responsible for stealing several power drills and batteries from the park’s property. Detectives report that after waiving his Miranda rights—meaning he voluntarily gave up his right to remain silent and have an attorney present—Foote admitted to committing the burglary and returned all stolen items.
Foote was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He is facing charges of simple burglary and theft under $1,000. His bond has been set at $65,000.
The Lazy Gators Water Park, which is nearing completion, is set to deliver major amenities for Westlake and surrounding communities, including a 1,000-foot lazy river, slides, a splash pad, and other recreational attractions. The project is spearheaded by Ward Four Recreation District One and aims to become a destination during Southwest Louisiana’s hottest months.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
