New Orleans, LA - Louisiana State Police (LSP) Troopers arrested three individuals following a routine traffic stop on Read Boulevard that led to the discovery of multiple illegal drugs and weapons, including a stolen firearm modified to function as a fully automatic weapon.

The incident began when Troopers with Troop NOLA conducted a traffic stop for a violation. The driver, identified as 34-year-old Errol Alexander, attempted to evade authorities by fleeing on foot but was quickly apprehended.

With assistance from LSP K-9 "Tessa," officers conducted a thorough search of the vehicle, uncovering a substantial cache of narcotics. The discovered substances included fentanyl, a synthetic opioid up to 50 times stronger than heroin; cocaine and crack cocaine, powerful stimulants; marijuana; and various illegal prescription medications.

In addition to the drugs, Troopers recovered two firearms. One weapon had been illegally modified to function as a fully automatic firearm, capable of firing multiple rounds with a single trigger pull. This weapon was confirmed stolen from Baton Rouge.

Two passengers, Davontae Lee, 32, and David Williams, 34, were also taken into custody alongside Alexander. All three suspects were transported to and booked into Orleans Parish Prison on multiple charges related to drug possession, weapon violations, and possession of stolen property.

The investigation highlights ongoing efforts by Louisiana State Police to address drug trafficking and illegal weapons in New Orleans communities.

At the time this was published, authorities had not yet released information about court dates or specific charges for the three suspects.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
