New Orleans, Louisiana — Louisiana State Police have arrested four individuals following an investigation into a dangerous "street takeover" that occurred in early March, where participants blocked roadways and engaged in illegal racing activities.

On March 4, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop NOLA responded to reports of vehicles and pedestrians deliberately obstructing Chef Menteur Highway and Press Drive in New Orleans. The coordinated event, authorities say, displayed a pattern consistent with other criminal activities throughout the city.

Responding officers conducted three separate traffic stops of vehicles participating in the takeover: a Cadillac CT4, an Infiniti Q50, and a Chrysler 300. All three stops escalated into high-speed pursuits across New Orleans, with vehicles reaching speeds exceeding 130 mph.

Brody Gautreaux, 26, of Lockport, was arrested as the driver of the Cadillac CT4. He faces multiple charges including Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway, and Reckless Operation. Troopers seized his vehicle as evidence.

The driver of the Infiniti Q50, identified as Deanta Belvin, 32, of Raceland, was also apprehended and charged with Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Resisting an Officer, Hit-and-Run Driving, and Negligent Injuring, among other traffic violations.

Through further investigation, authorities identified Kane Smith, 26, of Morgan City, as the driver of the Chrysler 300. Investigators discovered incriminating footage from inside Smith's vehicle that captured the pursuit, which was later shared on social media platforms.

On March 14, Troopers executed a search warrant at Smith's residence, where they recovered two stolen vehicle engines—one installed in the Chrysler 300 used during the takeover and another in a second Chrysler 300 at his home. Officers also discovered illegal narcotics at the location. Smith faces numerous charges including multiple counts of Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway and Reckless Operation.

A fourth suspect, Adel Nasher, 24, of Marrero, was identified as the driver of a Cadillac CTS also involved in the street takeover. He was arrested on March 12 in Baton Rouge and charged with Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway and Reckless Operation. His vehicle was also seized as evidence.

All four suspects were booked into the Orleans Parish Prison.

The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities working to identify additional participants. Anyone with information is encouraged to report anonymously through the Louisiana State Police online reporting system at https://speed-online.dps.la.gov/SuspiciousActivity/SAR or by calling the LSP Fusion Center Hotline at 1-800-434-8007.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
