Concordia Parish, Louisiana - A 46-year-old Vidalia resident lost his life Thursday morning in a highway crash involving a parked trailer and a pickup truck, according to Louisiana State Police.

Jason R. Tipton of Vidalia, Louisiana was pronounced dead at the scene after being pinned between a trailer and a Ford F-150 on Louisiana Highway 569 near Ferriday. The incident occurred at approximately 7:40 a.m. on March 21, 2025, when Troop E officers responded to the fatal crash.

Investigators revealed that Tipton had been standing behind a 2014 Eager Beaver 50 GSL Trailer, which was stationary in the southbound lane. He was assisting with loading heavy machinery when a southbound 1994 Ford F-150 driven by Edwin R. Tillery, 68, of Ferriday, failed to slow down and struck the rear of the trailer.

The collision pinned Tipton against the trailer, causing fatal injuries. Tillery, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities are awaiting results of routine toxicology tests as part of their ongoing investigation.

While the specific cause of this crash remains under investigation, Louisiana State Police noted that distracted and inattentive driving continues to be a leading factor in crashes throughout the state.
