By Calcasieu Staff

Published March 12, 2025

Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana - Beginning Thursday, March 13, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury will extend the operating hours of its Residential Solid Waste Convenience Centers. This change aims to provide residents with increased access to waste disposal services.

The new hours for the convenience centers will be from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., allowing residents to drop off their solid waste during a broader timeframe. The two locations, at 2915 Post Oak Road in Sulphur and 5500 B Swift Plant Road in Lake Charles, will be open weekly from Thursday to Monday. These sites will remain closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

These convenience centers are exclusively for Calcasieu Parish residents. Residents must present valid identification upon arrival to verify their residency. Contractors are not permitted to use these facilities, ensuring that the services remain available solely for local residents.

For those seeking more information about the convenience centers, including details on accepted waste materials and guidelines, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury encourages residents to call 337-721-3700 or visit the official website at calcasieu.gov/dumpsites.

This expansion of hours reflects the ongoing commitment of the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury to provide accessible waste management solutions for its community, particularly as warmer weather encourages more outdoor activities.
