Lake Charles, Louisiana – A shooting incident early Sunday morning at Cowboys on Common Street in Lake Charles, Louisiana has left one man dead and another in custody. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office received reports of the shooting around 5 a.m. on March 9, prompting immediate response from deputies.
Upon arrival at the scene, deputies found Augustus Javin, 25, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. According to reports from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, the investigation revealed that the shooting stemmed from a physical altercation involving the suspect, Fabian D. Charles, 34, of Port Arthur, Texas.
CPSO reported that during the altercation, Charles discharged a firearm, striking Javin. Following the incident, Charles was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He is now facing several serious charges including second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon by discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, and obstruction of justice.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
