Lake Charles, Louisiana - A major roadway improvement project on LA 14 in Lake Charles is set to begin on Monday, November 4, 2024, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD). The project aims to enhance the safety and efficiency of the 3.3-mile stretch of LA 14 from Power Center Parkway to just north of US 90.
Motorists traveling along LA 14 can expect lane closures, particularly in the right lanes of LA 14 Northbound and Southbound from Broad Street (US 90 Business) to US 90. To minimize disruptions, signs will be posted along the route to notify drivers of the lane closures.
The $11.2 million project involves a comprehensive overhaul of the roadway, including repairs to pavements, curbs, drainage pipes, and catch basins. Once the repairs are complete, the roadway will be overlaid with asphalt, and new pavement markings will be installed.
Progressive Construction Co. has been contracted to undertake the project, which is expected to be completed by the spring of 2026. The improvements will not only enhance the driving experience but also contribute to the overall safety of the road.
The DOTD advises motorists to plan their routes accordingly, taking into account the potential delays caused by the lane closures.
