Baton Rouge, Louisiana - A recent investigation by the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) led to the arrest of Richie Brown, a 25-year-old man, on multiple charges related to narcotics and firearms trafficking.

The investigation, which began in September 2024, focused on Brown's alleged involvement in the distribution of narcotics and firearms. On October 23, 2024, detectives from the BRPD's Special Investigations Division, along with the BRPD's Special Response Team and ATF agents, executed a search warrant at an apartment on Monet Drive in Baton Rouge.

During the search, authorities found a Glock .40 caliber handgun, digital scales, and other drug paraphernalia, as well as multiple bags of marijuana weighing approximately 430 grams and eight units of MDMA (3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine), a Schedule I controlled substance.

Brown was taken into custody and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal carrying of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), distribution of Schedule I substances (marijuana and MDMA), possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal use of a CDS in the presence of a minor.

This is not Brown's first run-in with the law. According to authorities, he has been arrested seven times on charges ranging from narcotics to robbery. His repeated involvement in illicit activities has raised concerns about the prevalence of narcotics trafficking in the community.

The BRPD and ATF worked together to investigate Brown's alleged activities, with assistance from the BRPD's Drone Division.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
