Lake Charles Shooting Investigation Underway After Victim Hospitalized with Gunshot Wound

Lake Charles, Louisiana - A shooting incident in Lake Charles, Louisiana has sparked a thorough investigation by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office (CPSO) and the Lake Charles Police Department. On August 26, at approximately 4:30 p.m., deputies responded to a call regarding possible shots fired at an apartment complex on Winterhalter Street.

While on the scene, authorities learned that a local hospital had received a patient with a gunshot wound. According to detectives, the shooting may be connected to an earlier altercation involving the same individuals.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was released from the hospital. CPSO is urging anyone with information about the shooting or the preceding altercation to come forward and assist in the investigation.

CPSO Detective Jeff Atkinson is leading the investigation. Although no arrests have been made in the Lake Charles shooting at this time, detectives are working diligently to piece together the events surrounding the incident.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
