Baton Rouge, Louisiana - A Louisiana State Police Lieutenant is facing charges of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) after being involved in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 near Perkins Road in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The incident occurred shortly after 11:30 p.m. on July 18, 2024.

According to authorities, 51-year-old Prentiss "Trey" Bellue, a 24-year veteran of the Louisiana State Police, was determined to be the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash. During the investigation, Bellue displayed signs of impairment, leading to his arrest by the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD).

Bellue, who was off-duty and driving his personal vehicle at the time of the crash, has been booked for DWI - 1st Offense. He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of both criminal and administrative investigations.

As part of the ongoing investigation, all law enforcement property will be recovered. Bellue is currently assigned to the Louisiana State Police Crisis Response Section, where he has served since 1998.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
