Grant Parish, Louisiana - A devastating one-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 1241 near Grays Creek Road on July 6, 2024, resulted in the tragic loss of 56-year-old Karla Valentine of Dry Prong, Louisiana. The incident, which occurred at approximately 8:40 p.m., is currently under investigation by Louisiana State Police Troop E.
Preliminary findings indicate that a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by 22-year-old Shane Goodman of Georgetown, was traveling westbound on Louisiana Highway 1241 when it veered off the roadway, descended the ditch embankment, and struck multiple trees. Goodman and Valentine, who were not wearing seatbelts, sustained serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital. An additional passenger, also unrestrained, suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
A report from Louisiana State Police indicated that impairment is suspected to be a factor in this crash, and routine toxicology samples were collected for analysis. Unfortunately, Valentine succumbed to her injuries later that evening.
