Lake Charles, Louisiana - The City of Lake Charles has announced that a crucial phase of the long-anticipated Enterprise Boulevard drainage improvement and road overlay project is set to commence on Thursday, April 25, 2024. This project will involve the closure of both the north and southbound lanes of Enterprise Boulevard, spanning between 1st Street and 3rd Street, beginning at 8 am. The closure, necessitated by the project's requirements, will impact vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the area.
The project, officially designated as “Capital Project No. 3277 – Enterprise Blvd. Reconstruction – 12th St. to Broad St.,” represents a multi-year endeavor aimed at enhancing the infrastructure of Enterprise Boulevard. This comprehensive project encompasses a spectrum of improvements, ranging from drainage and sidewalk enhancements to the complete reconstruction and overlay of the road surface. The upcoming phase is projected to last until 8 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024, subject to weather conditions.
Throughout the duration of the project, local traffic will be permitted access within the affected area. However, to ensure smooth traffic flow and minimize disruptions, through traffic is strongly advised to utilize 1st Avenue as a convenient detour route.
The groundwork for this project was laid in late 2023, with the commencement of construction on a drainage outfall situated on 1st Street, positioned between Enterprise Boulevard and 1st Avenue. This preparatory phase was crucial in establishing the foundational infrastructure necessary for the subsequent stages of the project to progress seamlessly.
