Louisiana State Troopers Probe Deadly Bicycle-Vehicle Crash on LA 1082 in Covington

Covington, Louisiana - Louisiana State Police Troop L initiated an investigation into a fatal crash on LA Hwy 1082 near Smith Road in St. Tammany Parish on Sunday, December 17, 2023, just after 3:30 p.m. The crash resulted in the tragic death of Sean Brady, a 45-year-old resident of Covington, Louisiana.

According to the initial findings, Brady was riding his bicycle southbound on LA Hwy 1082 when he was struck by a 2002 GMC Sierra driven by Blake Griffith, a 22-year-old from Bogalusa, Louisiana. Despite wearing a helmet, Brady sustained fatal injuries and passed away at a local hospital.

The driver of the GMC was unharmed and properly restrained during the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and once completed, the findings will be submitted to the St. Tammany Parish District Attorney's office for potential criminal or traffic violation consultation.

Louisiana State Troopers emphasized the importance of making responsible decisions while operating a motor vehicle, including avoiding impairment, fatigue, and distractions.
