Concordia Parish, Louisiana - On the evening of November 18, 2023, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E was called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 129 near Louisiana Highway 909. The crash resulted in the tragic death of Brett Wright, a 29-year-old from Acme, Louisiana.

According to LSP, initial findings indicated that Wright's 2007 Chevrolet work truck, which he was driving southbound on Louisiana Highway 129, veered off the road and collided with a tree after traveling down a ditch embankment. This impact caused Wright to be thrown from the vehicle, and he sadly did not survive his injuries.

Further investigation is underway to determine the factors leading to this crash. Samples for toxicology analysis have been collected and submitted for examination.

Louisiana State Police said that it's important to note that not all crashes can be survived, but wearing seat belts significantly increases the likelihood of surviving and reduces injury severity. Ensuring that all occupants are properly restrained can make a critical difference in life-or-death situations.

In 2023 alone, Troop E has responded to and investigated 49 fatal crashes resulting in a total of 53 deaths.
