Lake Charles Business Burglarized: Calcasieu Parish Deputies Arrest Juveniles, Search for Accomplices

Lake Charles, Louisiana - At around 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 8, deputies from Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office were sent to a business located on N. Martin Luther King Highway in Lake Charles, Louisiana due to a burglary alarm.

Upon the arrival of the deputies, they noticed that the front door of the business had been broken. After conducting their initial investigation, the deputies discovered that four unidentified males gained access to the business by smashing the door with a large rock. Once inside, the suspects took several items before escaping in a vehicle.

In a continued investigation, CPSO deputies, along with the help of the Lake Charles Police Department, were able to find the car near the corner of 4th Avenue and 7th Street in Lake Charles. After a short chase on foot, deputies caught two suspects, both juveniles aged 14 and 16. It was revealed that the car had been taken from a hotel parking lot on W. Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles. Inside the car, deputies discovered the stolen items from the business.

Both young individuals were booked into the Juvenile Detention Center accused of committing theft amounting to $1,000 - $5,000, simple burglary, simple criminal damage to property, stealing a motor vehicle, flight from an officer, being in possession of tobacco under the age of 18, and violating curfew.

Detectives are currently conducting an ongoing investigation to find the other two suspects involved in the burglary and theft. Deputy Miguel Juarez from the CPSO is the deputy responsible for the arrest in this case. The lead investigator for this case is Detective Jill Feverjean from the CPSO.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
