Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana - In April 2023, the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations Alexandria Field Office (LSP AFO) received evidence of wrongdoing by a deputy from the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office. The evidence reportedly showed that Connie Thomas, a 54-year-old resident of Marksville, Louisiana, had shared sensitive law enforcement information with a person who was under active criminal investigation.
Based on this information, LSP AFO obtained an arrest warrant for Thomas. On October 19, Thomas was taken into custody and booked into the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Jail for committing malfeasance in office.
The Louisiana State Police will lead the investigation, which is still ongoing. No further details are available at this time.
To report any suspicious or criminal activity, members of the public can use the secure reporting form on the Louisiana State Police website (www.lsp.org) by clicking on the Report Suspicious or Criminal Activity link.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
