Chief of Police in Louisiana Arrested for Malfeasance After Allegedly Accepting a Bribe During Traffic Stop

Georgetown, Louisiana - In August 2023, the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations Alexandria Field Office (LSP AFO) received a complaint regarding the Chief of Police of Georgetown Police Department engaging in malfeasance.

The complaint alleged that George Hinds, a 51-year-old resident of Georgetown, Louisiana accepted a bribe during a traffic stop. After conducting an investigation, LSP AFO obtained an arrest warrant for Hinds.

On October 16, 2023, Hinds was arrested and taken to Grant Parish Sheriff's Jail on charges of malfeasance in office.

The Louisiana State Police will lead the ongoing investigation. Currently, no further information is available at this time.
