Louisiana Man Arrested in Connection With Carjacking at Fast Food Restaurant in Prairieville

Prairieville, Louisiana - Sheriff Bobby Webre announced that Brent Chambliss, a 53-year-old resident of Gonzales, Louisiana was apprehended by deputies from the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office for his alleged involvement in a carjacking incident in Prairieville, Louisiana.

Chambliss faces multiple charges including carjacking, aggravated flight of an officer, aggravated battery, reckless operation, simple criminal damage to property, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm by convicted felon, and aggravated obstruction of a highway of commerce.

The incident occurred on Friday, October 13 at around 9:00 p.m. when deputies responded to reports of a carjacking at a fast-food restaurant on Hwy 42 in Prairieville, Louisiana.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies found the victim with visible head injuries. The victim informed them that she was forcibly removed from her vehicle by an armed male suspect who struck her in the head with his handgun. Deputies located the stolen vehicle approximately two miles away and initiated a traffic stop. The suspect attempted to evade arrest and engaged in a brief pursuit before crashing into a tree.

Through their investigation, deputies identified Brent Chambliss as the suspect and subsequently took him into custody. He is currently held at the Ascension Parish Jail.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office indicated that this is an ongoing investigation.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
