Louisiana Woman Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash After Driving into River in Livingston Parish

Livingston Parish, Louisiana – A woman from Louisiana was killed in a single-vehicle crash after driving into a river in Livingston Parish.

On July 2, 2023, Louisiana State Police reported that Troop A began investigating a single-vehicle crash on LA 22 near Petite Drive in Livingston Parish on July 1, 2023, shortly after 10:30 p.m. Sadly, 37-year-old Sara Marshall of Prairieville lost her life in the accident. The preliminary investigation reveals that Marshall was driving a 2004 Toyota Solara eastbound on LA 22 when she left the roadway and entered the Amite River. After entering the river, her vehicle was fully submerged. Despite being restrained at the time of the crash, Marshall sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. To aid in the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was collected from Marshall for analysis. The cause of the accident is still being investigated.

It is important for drivers to make responsible decisions while operating a motor vehicle, as these choices can have a significant impact on their safety and the safety of others. Louisiana State Troopers advise drivers to never drive while under the influence, to ensure that all passengers are using proper restraints, and to avoid any distractions that could divert their attention from the road. These actions can often be the deciding factor between a safe journey and a devastating accident.
