Louisiana Man Killed in Morning Pedestrian-Vehicle Crash on LA  1215 in Sabine Parish

Sabine Parish – A Louisiana man has been killed in a morning pedestrian-vehicle crash on LA 1215 in Sabine Parish.

Louisiana State Police (LSP) reported that on February 24, 2023, at about 7:00 a.m., LSP Troop E responded to a fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 1215 west of Louisiana Highway 191. Burley J. Hebert Jr., 62, of New Iberia, Louisiana, was killed in this crash.

According to the preliminary inquiry, Hebert Jr. was walking in the street when he was hit by a southbound 1995 Chevy van. As a result, Hebert Jr. suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Regular toxicological tests are being conducted. The accident is still being investigated.

Pedestrians should always make themselves visible to automobiles by wearing bright or light-colored clothing and reflective materials. Pedestrians should always walk on the sidewalk, but if one is not available, they should walk as close to the roadway edge as possible and face traffic. Pedestrians should carry a flashlight when walking at night for increased safety.

LSP Troopers with Troop E have investigated six fatal crashes so far in 2023, resulting in six deaths.
