A 21-Year-Old Man and 2 Teens from Louisiana Have Been Arrested for the Alleged Theft of Three Horses

Ascension Parish, Louisiana - According to Ascension Parish Sheriff Bobby Webre, three suspects, including two 16-year-old males, were arrested for allegedly stealing three horses from two different places in Prairieville, Louisiana.

Jatory Hardesty, 21, of St. Gabriel, has been charged with two counts of Theft of Livestock (felony), two counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of Juveniles (misdemeanor), and two counts of Criminal Trespass (misdemeanor).
The juveniles face two counts of livestock theft and two counts of criminal trespass.

Deputies responded to allegations of a stolen horse on Highway 929 in Prairieville, Louisiana, on Thursday, February 16, 2023. Soon later, deputies went to a second report of stolen horses along Highway 930. Investigators from the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office Property Crimes Unit took over the case after receiving information linking the two theft incidents.

Detectives reportedly determined throughout their investigation that Jatory Hardesty and the two juveniles stole the horses with the purpose to sell them. All three individuals were apprehended with the assistance of the St. Gabriel Police Department. The horses were returned to their owners in good condition.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office stated that the investigation is still underway.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
