18-Year-Old Louisiana Suspect Arrested Wanted for the Murder of a 14-Year-Old on February 9

An 18-year-old Louisiana suspect has been arrested wanted for the murder of a 14-year-old on February 9.

St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana – The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office stated on February 16, 2023, that they had apprehended a suspect wanted for allegedly fatally shooting a teenager last week in Chalmette, Louisiana.

Kelan Sartin, 18, of Chalmette, Louisiana, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and illegal possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Deputies responded to a call for assistance in the 3600 block of Golden Drive in Chalmette at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 9.
When deputies arrived, they discovered a male victim lying on the ground with gunshot wounds.

The victim, who was later identified as a 14-year-old male adolescent, was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.

Detectives of the Criminal Investigations Bureau confirmed Sartin to be the shooter in the incident during the course of the inquiry, and a warrant for his arrest was issued.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
