41-Year-Old Louisiana Felon Indicted by Federal Grand Jury on Firearms Charges Faces up to 15 Years in Prison if Convicted

New Orleans, Louisiana - Justin Henry, 41, of New Orleans, Louisiana, was charged on January 26, 2023, in a one-count indictment with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

If convicted, Henry faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, up to three years of supervised release, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.00.

U.S. Attorney Evans reiterated that the indictment is only a charge and that the defendant's guilt must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program that brings together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence and make our neighborhoods safer for everyone. On May 26, 2021, the Department launched a violent crime reduction strategy to strengthen PSN based on the following core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in our communities, supporting community-based organizations that help prevent violence in the first place, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring the results.

The case was investigated by the New Orleans Police Department, the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office, and the Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations. The prosecution is led by Assistant US Attorney David Berman.
