Louisiana Woman Arrested for Allegedly Providing False ID, and Smuggling Drugs and Paraphernalia in a Rubber Boot and Clothing

Jeff Davis Parish, Louisiana – A traffic stop in Louisiana led to the arrest of a 63-year-old woman for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, and for providing false information to authorities.

According to the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office, on January 10, 2023, Deputies made a traffic stop on a Ford truck that had allegedly gone through road closure signs into a construction zone on the North frontage road, near US 165 in Iowa, Louisiana.

When authorities spoke with the driver and passenger, they discovered that neither was a licensed driver. The passenger allegedly provided false information about her identification. Debbie Lynn Rome, 63, of 2132 9th Street, Lake Charles, Louisiana, was identified as the passenger by deputies.

During booking in the parish jail contraband was located on Rome’s person. Deputies discovered drug paraphernalia in her rubber boot and a bag of probable methamphetamine concealed in her clothing.

Rome was booked for Resisting an officer by refusal to identify, Possession of CDS II Methamphetamine, Possession of drug paraphernalia, and introduction of contraband into a penal facility.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty.
