24-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed in Louisiana Crash on LA 10

Kentwood, Louisiana – A 24-year-old pedestrian from Loranger, Louisiana was killed in a crash on LA Highway 10. The man was walking in the street and wearing dark clothing when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was not injured and impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

On December 16, 2022, just before 6:00 p.m., troop L of the Louisiana State Police began investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on LA Highway 10 near North Jackson Road in Tangipahoa Parish. 24-year-old Timothy Warden Jr. from Loranger, Louisiana was killed in the collision.

The early inquiry found that Warden Jr. was walking in the street on LA Highway 10 while wearing dark apparel. Simultaneously, a 2017 GMC Yukon was traveling eastbound on LA Highway 10. Warden Jr. was struck by the GMC for circumstances currently under investigation.

Warden Jr. received severe injuries in the collision. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The GMC driver was securely restrained and sustained no injuries. As part of the ongoing inquiry, toxicological samples were taken from both Warden Jr. and the GMC’s driver for processing. This crash is still under investigation, however, impairment is not believed to be a factor.

On roadways, pedestrians and drivers are asked to maintain vigilance and pay great attention to their surroundings. Generally, pedestrian collisions can be avoided by adhering to some simple safety principles. Pedestrians should wear clothing that is light-colored or reflective and should avoid walking on the roadway during the night. Especially at night, pedestrians must presume that approaching automobiles cannot see them. Crossing streets should only occur in well-lit, defined places, and pedestrians should always face traffic. These basic measures can increase pedestrian safety.
