Louisiana Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash on LA 565 After His Car Collided with a Tree and Caught Fire

Concordia Parish, Louisiana – On December 14, 2022, a 75-year-old man from Louisiana died in a single-vehicle crash when his car collided with a tree and caught fire. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

On December 14, 2022, Louisiana State Police reported that LSP Troop E responded to a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 565 south of Wildsville, Louisiana, at around 4:30 p.m. George L. Henry, 75, of Monterey, Louisiana, died as a result of the accident.

The preliminary investigation found that Henry was driving a 2016 Ford Focus southbound on Louisiana Highway 565. The Focus ran off the roadway and collided with a tree before coming to a stop for reasons still under investigation. After colliding with the tree, the Focus caught fire.

Henry, whose use of a seat belt is unknown, was fatally injured and declared dead at the scene. Samples were collected and submitted for toxicology analysis.

While the reason for this collision is still being investigated, distracted and inattentive driving is the primary cause of collisions in our state. The Louisiana State Police asks all drivers to remain vigilant while on the road. A loss of consciousness can have fatal implications.

Troopers from Troop E have investigated 52 fatal crashes resulting in 56 deaths so far in 2022.
