More Than $72k Worth of Drugs Seized and A Louisiana Man Has Been Arrested in Connection with Drug Trafficking

Louisiana – The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office revealed on October 13, 2022, that over the last several weeks, EBRSO Drugs launched an investigation into Jermaine Harris aka “UNC’s” alleged unlawful narcotics trafficking activities. Agents performed hundreds of hours of surveillance and many controlled purchases of fentanyl from Harris during the course of the investigation. Harris was allegedly accompanied by his 10-year-old son during one of the controlled purchases of fentanyl.

After placing Harris into custody, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office Narcotics, with the aid of SCAT, K-9, Intel, and the Central Police Department, executed three search warrants on October 13, 2022.

The warrants were served at addresses on Oswego Street, Adams Avenue, and White Oak Drive. As a result, the following seizures and arrests occurred:

Seized Narcotics and Currency (approximate totals and values)

  • 2.2 pounds of Fentanyl (street value $70,000)
  • 14 grams of Heroin (street value $1,400)
  • 53 dosage units of Oxycodone (street value $1,060)
  • 1 gram of crack cocaine
  • Numerous boxes of Suboxone
  • $9,500 (pending seizure)

Seized Firearms

  • Ruger .40 caliber handgun (reported stolen via Addis PD)
  • Smith and Wesson .40 caliber handgun (reported stolen via BRPD)
  • Derringer .22 caliber handgun

Jermaine Harris AKA “UNC”, 41

  • Distribution of Schedule II (Fentanyl/3 counts)
  • Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II (Fentanyl)
  • Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I (Heroin)
  • Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II (Hydrocodone)
  • Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II (Crack Cocaine)
  • Possession of a Firearm with Drugs
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Possession of a Stolen Firearm (2 counts)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Illegal use of CDS In the Presence of a Juvenile

Dawn Clarke, 45

  • · Possession of Schedule I (Heroin)

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office indicated that a large portion of this case was made possible by the Fentanyl overtime funding provided by the State of Louisiana via Senator Bodi White.

Divisions assisting in this case include East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office SCAT, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office K9, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office Intel, Central Police Department, and DEA Task Force.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
