Unrestrained Louisiana Man Killed in Crash on LA 308, Impairment Suspected
Louisiana – The Louisiana State Police reported on September 13, 2022, that on September 12, 2022, shortly after 7:00 p.m., LSP Troop C was notified of a single-vehicle fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 308 near East 69th Street. James Williams III, 27, of Cut Off, Louisiana, who was not restrained at the time, was killed in the crash.
According to early findings, Williams, who was driving a 1999 Ford F-150 north on LA Hwy 308, went off the road to the right after passing another northbound vehicle. Williams attempted to re-enter the road, but overcorrected, causing the Ford to rotate and cross the centerline. The Ford then ran off the road to the left, colliding with a tree.
Williams was not restrained at the time of the accident, and he died at the scene.
Impairment is thought to be a factor in this crash, with a toxicology sample taken from Williams and submitted for testing. This crash is still being investigated.
Impaired drivers are responsible for nearly half of all fatal crashes in Louisiana. Alcohol and other substances have an impact on your vision, fine motor abilities, and reaction times. Before consuming any alcohol or drugs, drivers should make a plan for a safe ride home, because if you feel different, you drive differently. Furthermore, taking just 3 seconds to buckle up can significantly improve your odds of surviving a crash. Drivers and passengers should be properly restrained in all seating positions, day or night.
So far in 2022, Troop C investigated 34 fatal crashes that resulted in 38 deaths.
