Louisiana Man Arrested for the Alleged Rape of a Child Under the Age of 14
Lake Charles, Louisiana – On September 2, 2022, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed that on August 30, CPSO deputies responded to a call regarding a rape of a girl under the age of 14.
During the investigation, investigators acquired information identifying the suspect as Hunter K. Smith, 26, of Lake Charles, Louisiana. On September 1, detectives apprehended Smith and took him to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office for questioning. Smith was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 1st-degree rape.
Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $1 million.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Detective Ben Hare is the lead investigator on this case.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
