Southwest Louisiana Man Sentenced to 15 Years on Child Pornography Charges After Being Found in Possession of Sexually Explicit Photographs of a 4-Year-Old Child

Lake Charles, Louisiana – On September 1, 2022, United States Attorney Brandon B. Brown announced that Shane Robinson, 28, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, has been sentenced by United States District Judge James D. Cain, Jr. to 180 months (15 years) in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release, on child pornography charges. Robinson was indicted by a federal grand jury in Lafayette and charged with production of child pornography and pleaded guilty to the charge on May 26, 2022.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) identified Robinson as a person who may be in possession of or distributing child pornography. A search warrant was obtained, and Robinson’s cell phone was taken. Agents discovered sexually explicit photographs of a 4-year-old child on Robinson’s cell phone, which he had taken using the phone. Robinson can even be seen in one of the sexually explicit photographs. When officers questioned Robinson, he acknowledged to taking the photographs on his cell phone.

The Department of Homeland Security’s Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigated the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney J. Luke Walker.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide campaign led by the United States Department of Justice to tackle the growing prevalence of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood, led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, combines federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.
