Hazardous Weather Outlook and Flood Watch Issued for Southwest Louisiana August 24
Lake Charles, Louisiana – According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, widespread showers and thunderstorms can be expected daily through the end of the week. Storms will be capable of frequent cloud-to-ground lightning and gusty winds. In addition, locally heavy rainfall and high rain rates could lead to flash flooding.
Storms are expected to become more scattered this weekend than has been seen this week. However, afternoon storms will still develop and will have the potential to produce periods of heavy rain, frequent lightning, and gusty winds.
A Flood Watch is in effect through at least the evening of Wednesday.
Rainfall totals of one to three inches are expected with local amounts of four to five inches possible. This could lead to localized flash flooding and the flash flood watch has been extended
until Wednesday evening.
