Louisiana Couple Arrested Again for Multiple Charges Related to Contractor Fraud

Lake Charles, Louisiana – The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on August 17, 2022, that earlier in 2022, between March and May, the Contractor Fraud Response Team received multiple complaints for possible contractor fraud in reference to Shawn E. Ledoux, 43, and Leigh A. Ledoux, 41, both of West Monroe, Louisiana, doing business as (DBA) Ledoux’s Flooring and More.

The complainants indicated during the initial investigation that they hired Shawn and Leigh to install flooring. The complainants informed detectives that they paid for materials, but Shawn and Leigh did not give them or complete the work. Detectives were aware of Shawn and Leigh’s lack of a license to complete construction work due to previous complaints.

During the course of the inquiry, Shawn and Leigh admitted to detectives that they did not supply the victims with the materials they had paid for. On August 15, they were both arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center, where they were charged with 6 charges of failure to possess the required license for home improvements, 5 counts of theft between $5,000 and $25,000, and 6 counts of theft between $1,000 and $5,000. Their bonds are both set at $182,500.

Shawn and Leigh were previously arrested by the Contractor Fraud Response Team for a similar occurrence earlier this year, according to authorities.

Detective Allen Cormier of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is the lead investigator on these cases.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
